Shawn + Clay
elopement | SEPTEMBER 11, 2020
Colorado River, USA
When Shawn reached out and asked if I’d be willing to come on a 3-day rafting elopement on the Colorado River, I didn’t overthink it; I’d never been rafting - but the idea of capturing a wedding on the water, surrounded by nature and a tight-knit group of friends and family sounded great.
Sure enough, it blew me away: the western Colorado/Utah earthy landscapes were endlessly jaw-dropping. The weather was perfect. The night sky was filled with a million stars, accompanied by Lord Huron and laughter echoing through the dark, moonlit, blue canyons. The wedding cake, dress, ceviche bar and churros all somehow traveled perfectly. It was a ceremony beyond what one could only dream of.
What an honor it was to be included in this one-of-a-kind union - by the end of it, I felt like family, too.

“It was truly an honor to have Mimi part of our wedding celebrations. Our vow ceremony took place on a completely remote stretch of the Colorado River that was boat in only. It comprised of 2 nights/3 days camping and was completely off grid. While we very much wanted the weekend documented, we initially thought finding a photographer willing and able to go with the flow, appreciate the experience and capture our vision would be next to impossible… enter Mimi.
There really are no words to describe how perfectly she captured the most memorable trip of our lives. Over the course of three days she seamlessly became a part of our families and friend group, she magically found ways to organically and candidly capture every single moment and all the love surrounding us. She completely over delivered and truly shocked us with the range, quality and incredibly stunning final product.
Mimi is kind, generous, easy going and also, an absolutely phenomenally talented photographer. We were also able to have her join us for a larger reception celebration party down in Mexico a few months later and as if she hadn’t already blown us away, she managed to do it all over again. We will cherish this collection of photos for the rest of our lives and we sincerely believe that no one could have done it better. If you are considering hiring Mimi, do it. It’s that simple.”
